Albert John Sherman (1882—1971)

Painter based in Sydney (Earlwood) NSW.

Born in Cornwall UK Albert with his wife ethel moved to Australia in 1922. Arriving in Adelaide to visit a cousin, the couple soon settled in Sydney.
Albert first exhibited in 1928 at the Royal Art Society. His still life paintings gained acclaim and by the late 1930s he was representing Australia in London as part of an exhibition arranged by the commonwealth for the celebrations for the coronation of VI.
By the 1940s Albert was considered to be the amongst the best still life painters in Australia.
This was to be his trajectory for the next decades.
His works have been collected by many public institutions in Australia and New Zealand.
