John Banks (1883-1945)
BIO

Banks was born in Sydney in 1883, he studied at the J.J.Watkins School, Sydney, under Harry Garlick. He was an Associate of the Royal Art Society of New South Wales 1923-45. Banks was chiefly a painter of seascapes and ships, only a few etchings being known.
His paintings of Sydney Harbour and beaches are known for their heavily impasto surfaces.
Banks died in Sydney or 28 June 1945.
