Seven works by Nastia Gladushchenko

A series of works about finding freedom and a sense of home, peace and identity in a shifting, tumultuous world.

Thinking of my family living in a war zone, their daily challenges and the way their lives have changed drastically, occupies my mind endlessly. My hope is that these works transport us to wondrous realities and a more serene world so that we may imagine ours to be the same one day.

I have created an alternate reality of quiet and calm at different moments of the day and each piece contains hidden symbols of peace within it.

Nastia Gladushchenko

A mural artist and painter living and working in Katoomba. Her work examines the relationship between humans and the plant world and she uses botanical imagery to remind us of the importance of our connection to the natural environment and to each other.

With a background in Interior Architecture, exploring the way our environments affect our bodies and minds is of strong interest to her and by creating pieces featuring imagery of oversized botanicals, she hopes to transport people to a place between a playground and a meditative space.

As well as running a personal art practice, she’s interested in creating pieces for and with the community to allow them to access art and to experience its’ benefits in public spaces.
