Ochre Mountain Pink Series

Standing beneath towering ochre mountains recently, I couldn't help but feel a warm, soft and protective energy radiating from them. The way these strong and bright orange-pink boulders commanded authority yet wrapped you in a dreamy haze amazed me. This work is an exploration of these contrasting elements of softness and strength and form part of a series painted at the time of my matrescence when I was learning to be both gentle and strong as a new mother.

Nastia Gladushchenko

A mural artist and painter living and working in Katoomba. Her work examines the relationship between humans and the plant world and she uses botanical imagery to remind us of the importance of our connection to the natural environment and to each other.

With a background in Interior Architecture, exploring the way our environments affect our bodies and minds is of strong interest to her and by creating pieces featuring imagery of oversized botanicals, she hopes to transport people to a place between a playground and a meditative space.

As well as running a personal art practice, she’s interested in creating pieces for and with the community to allow them to access art and to experience its’ benefits in public spaces.
