Bio
Born in 1978, Olivia Shimeld is a Blue Mountains based painter. Olivia has a bachelor degree in Visual Art majoring in Electronic and Temporal Art from Sydney College of the Arts, University of Sydney (1997-1999).
Olivia studied oil painting fundamentals with Celia Gullett in 2011, and went on to study oil painting/development of personal technique with Celia Gullett from 2013-2017.
Olivia showed with the artist group MOD Collective at the Affordable Art Fair, Melbourne in September 2019. She showed paintings and video at First Draft Gallery, Sydney in a show titled Ditto and Likewise in 2005 and her major work drawing was exhibited in ArtExpress, AGNSW in 1996.
Olivia has worked in the arts, at The Art Gallery of NSW in the Public Programs department from 2001-2010. She also independently produced a number of videos for the Gallery including the exhibition video for the Margaret Preston Art And Life Retrospective 2005, as well as a short documentary about the Durga Puja Festival in Kolkata India for the Goddess Exhibition in 2006.
Olivia has studied (2009-2017) in the areas of oil painting, yoga, meditation and energetic healing. Her studies, as well as being a mother to four school aged children inform and inspire her artwork, which is mostly ethereal abstract landscape, streetscapes and floral abstracts. Her work is meditative, contemplative, intuitive and energetic.
