Pippita Bennett is a Blue Mountains based artist who creates landscapes using fabric and thread. I begin my work by a fire, immersing textiles in plants dyes made from leaves, flowers and bark I collect. I then stitch, letting my eye follow the line of a branch or leaf. My landscapes form from small stitches and layers of fabric. I can work anywhere with my stitching on my lap and my materials around me – and so each landscape is also made up of conversation, bush walks and cups of tea. Each artwork is a record of place and time. My process is immersive, contemplative and slow.
