“Eureka!” I cried, as I discovered that others too believed in the importance of our natural world. COP 26 empathised the peoples desire for global and immediate action on climate change. Its damn disgraceful then that our federal politicians continue to let us down in their blatant disregard for the science and for the wellbeing of all the people they claim to represent. Let it be known that I love Australia and I am proud of my country. I am however, utterly disgusted in our government. What more evidence is needed to convince those in power that action is required? Surely the disappearing barrier reef, Koala population nearing extinction, or wildfires like those in summer of 2019-2020 that ravaged Australia’s east are testimony enough to a climate in crisis? Yet it appears not, and while the world we love (perhaps to death) crumbles around us, we can be sure that our politicians served profit and big business while dooming us all. We are on the precipice of no return. Tomorrow may be too late to make the change that saves us all. What is to be done?
