Ken Knight
BIO

Born in Sydney in 1956, Ken Knight is one of Australia's celebrated landscape painters. Working predominantly en plein air, Knight captures not simply what he sees, but the atmosphere and sensation of being immersed in the Australian landscape.

Using thick oil paint, vibrant colour, energetic brushwork, palette knives and scraping techniques, he moves between naturalism and abstraction. Rather than faithfully reproducing a scene, Knight uses the landscape as a starting point for his imagination, reducing detail to create paintings with greater impact and emotional immediacy.

Following in the tradition of Australia's great Impressionist landscape painters, Knight brings a distinctly contemporary energy to the Australian bush.
