BIO
Mabel Pye was born in Melbourne and studied drawing 1912-15 and painting 1915-19 at the National Gallery School, Melbourne, a contemporary of Napier Waller, Ethel Spowers and Adelaide Perry. She was a member of the Victorian Artists Society from 1918-41 and exhibited prints with them between 1935-41; she was also a member of the Melbourne Society of Women Painters and Sculptors from 1920-58. Pye was best known for her watercolours and colour linocuts, most of which she made during the 1930s. Extract from the Art Gallery of NSW
