BIO
Norbertine Bresslern-Roth was an Austrian artist known for her dynamic paintings and prints of animals. Her prints are notable for their expert use of linocut and distinctive layering technique. Born on November 13, 1891 in Graz in Klosterwiesgasse, Austria, her talent was fostered from a young age by her elementary school teacher. She went on to study under Hans von Hayek in Dachau, and later followed one her mentors Ferdinand Schmutzer, to the Vienna Academy of Art. In 1911, she began her professional career by exhibiting with the Viennese Secessionists. Before her death on November 30, 1978 in Ibid, Austria, Bresslern-Roth had been touted as among the most important animal painters of the 20th century. (artnet)
