In this surreal and theatrically lit composition, three ring-tailed lemurs are anthropomorphized in a darkly humorous tableau that blurs the boundary between the animal kingdom and human folly. With expressions that range from wild-eyed hysteria to smug disdain, the lemurs are depicted clutching symbolic objects — a ceremonial horn, a yellow flower, and a red ribbon — suggesting a parody of status, celebration, or ritual.
The central lemur, mouth agape in a fierce cry or command, holds a flower aloft like a twisted offering, while another appears to recoil or gesture dramatically. The third covers its face in apparent shame or mockery, creating a visual echo of the “see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil” motif. The textured fur, rendered in meticulous detail, contrasts with the almost theatrical black background, drawing attention to their expressive postures and humanlike gestures.
A swarm of insects buzzes ominously through the scene, enhancing the unsettling energy. The circular format of the painting encloses the viewer in this intense, satirical moment — a captivating commentary on absurdity, hierarchy, and the chaos of social performance.
This striking and enigmatic piece invites the viewer to project their own interpretations, making it a compelling work for collectors who appreciate technical brilliance combined with narrative edge.
‘Your Body, My Choice’. These four loaded words spoken by the far right, white supremist, homophobic, and misogynistic a-hole Nick Fuentes and addressed to women after Donald Trump’s victory over Kamala Harris during the polarizing 2024 US election. Fuentes verbal vomit continued with, “Hey bitch, we control your bodies! Guess what? Guys win again. Okay? Men win again. There will never ever be a female president … It’s over. Glass ceiling? Dude, it’s the ceiling made of fucking bricks. You will never break it. Your stupid face keeps hitting the brick ceiling. We will keep you down forever. You will never control your own bodies.”
Such blatant misogyny is not only denigrating to women and men alike but too is startling in its brazen and assured finality. It is alarming too, that such a vile individual was invited to wine and dine with the most powerful man of the free world. Of whom do I speak of? It is of no other than that of the president of the United States, Donald Trump. It is truly mind boggling that such a man and his posse of miscreants could have been handed the most important and powerful job on a golden platter by the people who have the most to lose by his success. This Success, Trump’s political triumph, now gives credence to extreme ideology and paves the way to social and moral obliteration.
Hark! Can you hear it? The battle horn bellows and to war we march. Sisters, we are strong and together we will fight. For our mothers that came before us and for the daughters that come after; there is no going back. No one can keep us down, try as they might. Our liberation. Our bodies. Our choice. Adriana Seserko
