Frank Boyle
BIO

Born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1960, Frank Boyle has lived and worked in Australia since 1982. He completed a Bachelor of Fine Art at the National Art School, Sydney, in 2000, and has since presented numerous solo exhibitions as well as participated in a wide range of group shows.

Working across both landscape and figurative painting, Frank draws deeply on his experiences travelling and spending time in Australia, India, and Europe. These environments continue to inform and shape his studio practice, providing both subject matter and emotional impetus. His landscapes often explore emotion, atmosphere and space, while his figure paintings investigate mood, stillness, and psychological presence.

At the core of his practice is sustained observation. Frank’s paintings evolve from careful looking and a responsiveness to place and situation. As he reflects, “I respond primarily to what I see and the emotions it stirs within me. If I’m satisfied with the work I create, I hope it speaks for itself.”
